Freddy L. Martin

Pastor Martin knows that pastoring is his calling, with a strong pulpit ministry after 35 years. Pastor Martin is a proven therapist, effective in individual and group counseling, Pastor Martin is an integrationist, he believes in the process whereby both psychological and theological disciplines retain their own identity while benefiting from each others perspective and communicating the same truth. The two disciplines are united but not fused, yet adhering to the separation of Church and State. Dr. Martin holds the Bible as being the final authority.

Holly Go-Martin

- R.A.S.

Reverend Holly Go-Martin has over 33 year of ministry working primary with children’s ministries. She is an ordained minister with American Asian Pacific Ministries, Inc. later transferred to Valley Christian Center Church. She has a proven ministry with several congregations during her career and is a sought after educator for churches. She holds degrees from the University of Mindanao. Davao City, Philippines with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, Major in Business Management, a Bachelor of Christian Ministries from Immanuel Bible College Cebu City, Philippines and is an active credential holder with Breining Institute as a Registered Addiction Specialists (R.A.S.) Current Status. Holly immigrated to the United States in 1991 working with American Asian Pacific Ministries, Inc. In December of 2006 Holly was married to Freddy L. Martin and became Mrs. Holly Go-Martin. She is a member of Immanuel Bible College alumni, Fil-Am and a long list of other social organizations. She continues to work in the field of children’s ministry and substance abuse counselor. She is a supporting asset to her husband ministries and outreaches.

AMERICAN ASIAN PACIFIC MINISTRIES, INC. MISSION The American Asian Pacific Ministries, Inc. D.B.A. Valley Christian Center Church is a structured, faith-based multi-ethnic ministry conducting program in cooperation with public authorities. American Asian Pacific Ministries, Inc. emphasizes the importance of the family in inculcating and maintaining constructive care among members. We believe the very foundation of society is the family. Our mission is to provide youth at risk with the skills necessary for learning; now in the classroom and throughout their adult life. Valley Christian Center knows by sharing our Faith and resources we can give youth and families the opportunity to develop the life-skills necessary to succeed. GOALS Our programs are designed to nurture, counsel and motivate people in need, as well as to strengthen families by helping them recognize and overcome problems related to all ages. Valley Christian Center mentors young people with needs that extended beyond the traditional classroom and are not met by standard teaching methods. The Valley Christian Center mentoring program is dedicated to the goals of self-motivation, competence and development of lifelong learning skills, which provide a valuable foundation for success in the 21st Century. The Valley Christian Center s administrative staff and faculty believe that no person will fail when given the proper environment and opportunity to succeed. We are convinced that through mentoring we can make a difference by giving our youth a greater vision for their future and develop self-confidence allowing them to become productive citizens. Therefore; the request for funds to complete this much need facility. American Asian Pacific Ministries, Inc. ( Valley Christian Center ) is a California State certified Drug Free Non-Residential clinic certification number 190211BN for the treatment of addictions. American Asian Pacific Ministries, Inc. has been awarded contracts with the County of Los Angeles Drug and Alcohol Department for the past thirteen (13) years and holds renewed contracts for the next thirteen (13) years. The agency has outpatient alcohol and drug programs for adults and CARE (California Access to Recovery Effort) programs for youth. Dr. Freddy L. Martin is a certified assessor for CARE programs. Our agencys projects provide planned programs on substance abuse treatment, parenting classes, pre-marital classes, relationship-building, marriage enrichment classes and mentoring. American Asian Pacific Ministries, Inc. was founded in February 1991. American Asian Pacific Ministries, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 religious organization. To better understand the needs before our community here is a brief history of our programs and projects. American Asian Pacific Ministries, Inc. affiliations and associations with other like minded programs (Community-Based) or Faith-Based ministries to meet the needs of the community. Through our founder and president, Dr. Martin national and international needs have become our projects. American Asian Pacific Ministries, Inc. is also listed in the Duns and Bradstreet. During times of crises nationally and internationally our food and charitable programs has provided assistance because of Dr. Martin relationship nationally and internationally. When Asia was hit with the a devastating tsunami Valley Christian Center donated and sent books and materials to establish an entire school system, they further facilitated the sending of twelve (12) additional forty (40) foot containers to Sri Lanka for tsunami victims. When Katrina hit Louisiana Dr. Martin under the umbrella of U.S. Volunteers-Joint Service Command Lt. Colonel Freddy L. Martin, Deputy Chief of Chaplains garnered the support of American Asian Pacific Ministries staff to implement and facilitate the delivery of eight (8) forty (40) foot containers in the disaster area. Since the 2008 closing of California Youth Authority facilities in Los Angeles County , young people which were sent to Juvenile Camps and released back to their homes need assistance to assimilate. One must briefly look at the social and economic needs of our target population to better understand ones organizational needs to enrich the married community. In the United States there are an estimated 14.8 million people currently using illicit drugs (SAMHSA 1999). Alcohol dependence is the second leading cause of premature deaths and disability in the San Gabriel Valley , ( County of Los Angeles , Department of Health Services, 2000). It is estimated that the most serious problem facing U.S. high school students is alcohol. One in ten youth, ages 12-17 has reported the use of illicit drugs, (SAMHSA, 1999). Pregnant women and mothers with children under the age of 1 were more likely than non-pregnant women to use illicit drugs, (SAMHSA 1990). It is estimated that 18.8% of the population is at imminent risk of becoming homeless: that is 358,294 residents of the San Gabriel Valley according to United Way reports. It is estimated that there are 11,010 homeless individuals in the San Gabriel Valley according to the Commonwealth Fund, 1993. San Gabriel Valley children are among the estimated 11,010 homeless individuals. In the San Gabriel Valley , 13,903 individuals receive General Relief funding monthly. These individuals are 69% below the poverty level. 108,793 families receive Cal Works funds. These families are at 48% below the poverty level. Because of the staggering number of targeted people in need it is easy to understand the need to improve our performance to impact our target population in a greater way. In order to accomplish this, funds will be used for the training of marriage education facilitators (training the trainers) and for the staffing of the ongoing development of our outreach plan (marketing), as well as for the developing of new program materials, and training manuals and finishing our facility to continue this outreach. Better trained staff can reach a greater number of our target population. With the economic situation as poor as it is, more and more people are coming to us need. The needs of our community seems almost overwhelming however, American Asian Pacific Ministries continue to search for and find ways service our people in need. More than seven (7) decades of experience have taught us that one of the most effective ways to help young people is through mentoring. Mentors help young people stay in school, achieve their goals, and avoid unsafe activities. According to a research study, young people who meet regularly with mentors are: 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs, 27% less likely to begin drinking alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school and 33% less likely to hit someone. What is needed so vitally in our neighborhoods today? A safe and fun place for youth to get help with homework, get some physical activity, be mentored by the community members as well as volunteers from our local law enforcement. Sound like a dream? Well, it is a dream we can see fulfilled as we expand our already ongoing programs at no cost to our community families. Statistics show that our youth in Southern California are dropping out of school at alarming rates with the latest numbers declaring that a full 30% of our young people will not be graduating from high school at all. This should be a wake up call to the adults of today! What will the future be like if we let this trend continue and do nothing? We are convinced that we can make a difference by joining forces and reaching out to the youth of San Gabriel Valley . We can give our kids the opportunity to develop the life-skills necessary to succeed. We can help them see a greater vision for their future and develop self-confidence allowing them to become productive citizens.COLLABORATIVE PARTNERS To achieve our program goals and objectives our program works in concert with other community based organizations. American Asian Pacific Ministries, Inc. maintains several collaborative partners by means of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with hospitals, mental health agencies, and medical providers. American Asian Pacific Ministries, Inc. has a MOU with the East Valley Community Health Center, Inc. of West Covina , CA (EVCHC) to provide HIV counseling and testing (HCT) services. An additional MOU is signed with LA Works Cal Grip Project. Our volunteer program has retired school teachers, musicians, retired nursed, professional athletes such as the Stand Strength Team, five (5) Ordained Ministers, Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs, Military Chaplains, and professional business people giving a wide selection of adult mentors for our youth in need. The agency works with the courts, Los Angeles Probation Department, the California Parole Department, the Department of Social Services and Assessment Centers . American Asian Pacific Ministries is an active member of the Emergency Network Los Angeles (ENLA). Valley Christian Center Mission Statement American, from the Church house to the White House, is crying out for genuine community. We cannot live without it. Jesus cry to the Father before His crucifixion was, That they may be one. The hallmark of the early church was Behold how they love one another. And our nation was born of a vision for genuine covenant community of the New Testament variety. Is there hope for a revival of true covenant community in this land where our fathers died? I believe there is. Our hope lies not in tirades against Washington but in trumpeting the truth to Gods people; not in crystallized religion but in Christian relationship; not in Churchianty but in a twenty-first (21) century display of the Word made flesh and dwelling among us.
